Axle Type Has No Code

Hey All,

Great site and members, read the rules etc. so now I can post.

Checked the Super Duty FAQ's page, but the problem is that my sticker is blank under AXLE. I bought it expecting 3:73 LSD and want to verify it.

Am I on LSD? What am I missing?

Thanks,
BW

Oh, no...another Yeti! RUN! Naaah! Just ribbin' ya, TheYeti. Welcome to the Site

Can you see the ID tag on the rear diff cover? It will show the size and whether it's LS or not.

note: Maybe the boys at the factory were on LSD... ??

There is a Green and White Sticker around the passenger side outer axle that says "141H"

My Yeti call tag is more of the old mountain bikes.

note: Maybe the boys at the factory were on LSD... ??
I re-checked the sticker and I am thinking they licked it off

On the rear diff cover will be one or more metal tags held on by the cover bolts.

Absent both the tag or the drivers inside door frame sticker with the vin and a BUNCH of codes it is still pretty easy to figure out.

Chock front tire front and rear.

Put key in ignition and turn to run so the auto trans can be shifted to neutral without starting. If Manual tranny Skip the Key crap just shift to "N"

Release park brake.

Jack up and put stands under both sides of rear axle

BE Safe BE Careful!

Mark a chalk line on one tire

Mark the drive shaft so you can see how many times it turns.

With two people see if you have Limited Slip by trying to hold one wheel while turning the other. A open diff will let one wheel turn while opposite wheel is stopped. A LS unit will make both wheels turn same rate.

Get the two chalk marks lined up where you can count the drive shaft turns. One revolution of the wheel will make the drive shaft mark spin by 3.73 or 4.1 or 4.3 times and it is real easy to judge what is 4 minus a little(3.7) or 4 plus a little(4.1) or 4 plus a 1/3 turn(4.3)

Takes longer to jack and brace than do the two tests.

TheYeti... have you met Yeti yet? He can be a mean little bugger but a lot of fun too. Personally I like Monsta better...

Anyway welcome to the forum!

Well, okay, if that's how you came about it...

That's a sign...for sure.

And Fred's right, Yeti (Super Duty Moderator) can be a little mean, but he's got alot of excuses for being that way. Why? Ever been to the SD forum?

FWIW - Fred's right about everything else, too. Trouble is, it's hard catching him when he ain't right....

Thanks for the info.

I found the tag it reads:
3 S 141 H
73 10 5 OG24

So 3:73 10.5" is the easy part, but what does the rest mean?

Thanks,
BW
