I have a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT with 91,000 miles on it. When I am driving from 55miles per hour to about 71miles per hour fast, my truck is really loud and shaky. I have had my truck aligned and new tires put on it. The problem still has not gone away. What is wrong with my truck?
You might have somebody take a look at your shocks. I've got the same trouble with mine (although at 346,000 miles) and have to get the replaced every so often.
I've already mentioned on the forum about my 2000 Ford Ranger Truck XLT that is shaking from 55-70 miles per hour. I think it is in need of tie rod replacement. Does anyone know how much that will cost a young lady like me?
you did not mention a tire balance, did you get them balanced?
you want to make sure it is the tie rods before forking over the $$$. raise the front end, grap one of the tires at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position and try to move the wheel side to side. if it moves, it may be the tie rod. also grab the tierod itself and try to move it, it should not move.
As mentioned earlier, check the u-joints. grab the driveshaft at each end and try to move it, it should not move if good.
I've had this problem with just about every vehicle I've owned, including my Ranger. Vibration from around 60-65 mph. I never have figured out why. I figure it must be the tires or wheels, heck even my wife's old Dodge Dynasty used to do this. Stinks, but I've never really been able to make it go away in any of my vehicles over the years...
