Need help and Info.....
I am contemplating a 300 I6 to a 302 or 351 swap and have read the "read first" post about it and I still feel I need some more info. I saw on the post where it says that I need a EEC-IV computer and wiring harness and a few other things in other posts but for the most part, that was it.
My truck is a '94 EFI with auto OD tranny and would prefer a 351 EFI to go back in.
Will the 351 hook to my tranny without modifications and can someone tell me exactly everything I will have to change down to alternator brackets, ect... for a complete engine change. I want my truck to be the same as it is now with AC, ect... after the swap, basically like it came from the factory with the 351.
I apoligize if that is a bit much to ask but I need to know what is ahead before I decide what to do.
Thx for the help.
The 300, 302 and 351 share the same bell housing pattern so no problem with mating the two. Make sure you have a 351W flexplate.
As far as bracketry... all of it has to go. Not one bracket of the 300 will fit on the 351, but the accessories will if you have the right bracketry.
It's much easier to do a swap liike this if you have a complete engine, i.e. a take-out engine that has all the bracketry, wiring, etc.
