Replacement M/C

I have a 49 F-1 with a 60's fruit jar M/C and swing arm pedal assembly. I would like to instal a dual M/C non power to replace the fruit jar. I'm running drums front and rear. Any ideas? Thanks

Classic Performance Products sells a dual master cylinder for stock drum brakes. www.classicperform.com

You may have to fab a new mounting bracket. They list a bracket for '53-56 for manual master cylinder. Maybe it could be adapted.

Sacramento Vintage Ford sells a bracket for the '48-52 made to mount a '67-72 Mustang dual reservoir M/C and a bolt on adapter for it that includes the push rod. www.vintage-ford.com They also sell the M/C. Found it while looking thru their catalog.

I had the same situation. I took my MC off and went to the parts store. I made a template of cardboard of the mounting hole and measured the bore on the MC. They matched it up with dual chamber. It took about three or four tries but we got the right one. Going to a dual chamber, you may have to put a proportioning valve in the rear lines to balance the brakes. Make sure the rod length is the same or you'll have problems also.

a disk/disk MC will work just fine if the bore diam is the same. Disk MC just has larger volume fluid rezes. Power and manual MC are not the same tho, they use different length pushrods so you may need to fab a new pushrod if you use a power MC.
