I race a 97 Invader 024 chassis with a KT 100 engine, (Supercan class)
and I'm thinking of moving into the 80cc shifter class next season.
I can't say enough positive things about Karting....
It's truly a blast.
It's also a sport for people of all ages. There are 4 year old kids out there in cadet karts who are racing. ( At VERY reasonable speeds of course!) I'm 37 and have been doing it for 2 years now, and one of the best drivers in the supercan class around here is in his late 60's!
I have met some of the nicest people at the track too!
And if it's affordable speed your looking for than I can't think of a better way to do it legally, or for less money.
In fact, the track record at Mid Ohio raceway was held by a GoKart for years. I don't know what type of vehicle hold's the record there now, but that should give you some idea of just how fast some of these Karts can go.
I personally have yet to win a race, but this sport is so fun that If I never win a single heat...I don't care. Flying down the backstraight and making that turn neck and neck with another karter makes it all worth it!
