synethic oil

I have a 2000 f350 SD CC 7.3 diesel. My questions are Is it ok to tow a 5th wheel trailer {35ft} with 5w-40w synethic oil? Also how often do you change the synethic oil verses regular 15w-40w oil? Thanks for all and any help.

I use Mobil 1 Truck & Suv synethic oil and change every 7500 miles..this is the same oil as Mobil 1 Delvac, which the truckers use

i have an 02 and i use mobil 1 truck & suv 5w-40, i change it ever 5k or so... i tow a 28' 5ver and have had no problems at all.. as a matter of fact... my mule runs BETTER after towning for an hour or so then when i leave... i think it takes her that long to clear her pipes of all the soot the build up from around town driving..... i would be more concerned about your tranny... if you are pulling a 35' 5ver, i hope you have a tranny temp gauge, not the stock one, it's junk... and a pyro guage is a must have also...!

Your truck will do better with synthetic IMO than with dino oil. Not that dino oil is not up to the task, because it is.
But synthetic is even better.
My personal preference is Mobil 1 Delvac 5-40.
A little more expensive and just as good: Redline Oil.

I went to Rotella Synthetic, and the difference it made was amazing, especially in the quietness of my motor. I would be willing to bet it cut the noise in half, at least.. Worth every penny just for the reduced noise..
