Trailer towing package

Trailer towing package

On a 2004 F-150 when you look at the VIN number is there any one letter or number in the VIN # that indicates the truck came with a trailer towing package?

I do not know about that but does it have a hitch with the 7-pin? Thats a almost fool proof way to tell.

No, the VIN doesn't indicate options like this. But there is a plate that shows the factory-installed options. I think it's in the doorsill (rode my bike today, so I'm not sure).

If the information is on the doorsill can you tell me what the codes numbers and or letters are that are used for a trailer towing package?

No. The VIN will not contain a code to indicate a tow package. On the '04 the trailer connector should have 7-pin circular electrical connection, plus a 4 pin vertical connector immediately to the drivers side of the circular connector. If you have been able to retrieve the window sticker the tow package will be reflected on the sticker.
