Poor engine performance
I have a 1990 ford bronco. It has a 5.8 liter engine and an e4od transmission. I have been having poor perfomance with this car. First, their is a very strong gas smell from the exaust, but the car runs better when it is cold. When the bronco warms up, it is very sluggish. The engine revs higher when hot then when its cold. The car runs much, much better when it is cold, so i think it has something to do with the fuel system. Any suggestions will be helpful.

i'd start with the simple stuff, check the vacume hoses, it sounds like to me that the map sensor may not be getting a vacume signal, or could be bad. i'd also check the tps, and check the compuer for storred codes. hope this helps, good luck finding the problem.

You might also have a temperature problem. Is your engine warming up to specs? If its running to cool the computer might be thinking its cold all the time and telling it to run rich. Kind of like if you had a carb and the choke was stuck all the time.
