Hey all my 93 351 runs great, but she's close to 200,000 miles so i'm starting to look into my options for an overhaul. It wont happen until next summer, so this is all speculation, and i'm open to any ideas. I was thinking of going to a junkyard and pulling a low mileage V10 out of a wrecked superduty or excursion and having it professionaly transplanted into the bronc. has anyone ever done this? What tranny does the V10 mate to? My other option of course is to rebuild the 351 and probably go edelebrock everything including computer and fuel management system. Im looking for about 300-315Hp and about 375-400 PPF of torque and staying as close to the gas mileage i'm getting now as possible ( tall order i know). I also realize that the V10 far exceeds those specs, but with its advanced technologies, i would think that only having to move the wieght of a bronco it would get better gas mileage right?
I realize that this is alot of stuff to throw out at once but i want alot of input, whatever it may be.
I personally love the idea. If you do this conversion I hope you put pics in your gallery. I was thinking about putting a 351 in a bronco2 myself. I wish you lots of luck on this project. sounds difficult but worthwhile.
It sounds real cool. If you decide to do it then take your time looking for a donor truck with the engine compartment ok(not a head on crash) with maybe a torque shift transmission, and you might be able to use that, somehow.
For what ever its worth, I saw a '93 Mustang coupe at the Fun Ford Weekend race in Ennis, Texas last year that had a V-10 stuffed into it. Don't know any particulars, just saw it in the car show.
