Ok heres the deal I have 2 12" audiopipe subs and a Boss amp The subs are 500watts each and the amp is 800watts now for some reason the subs arent working Im getting power to my amp and Ive have this setup for about 4 months now and its pissing me off Im not much of a electrical person so I really dont have a clue when it comes to this stuff Im guessing my subwoofers are blown wich really sucks but if anyone has any idea what Im talking about please respond thank you
I assume that this set-up was OK to begin with, since you've had it 4 months, correct? It is very unlikely that the subs would both go bad at the exact same time. It is possible if something shorted, but I bet something is wrong with the amp or a fuse is blown, something like that. Was the set-up connected properly in terms of the ohms that the amp was working into? If not, the amp may be toast. It also could be a loose ground wire, something of that nature. I would check every possible connection and go from there.
Last post touched on an important thing, the ground. Go ahead and remove the ground, scratch things up really good and bolt down tight. Check all wiring for power before and after fuses with a light tester. Heck, light test from battery back. Also, it may be something a simple as the remote wire loose.
Don't get frustrated, diagnosing (and completing) problems like this can be self fulling! Good luck.
Try checking your fuses first just to make sure. I don't know if your amp has an auto-protect mode.. but see if there's a red light coming on the amp whenever your sound system is supposed to be going. As youngy said.. check the ground, and I would also check the remote wire. I don't think it's your subs, even when they blow they still move and sound crappy.
what are you using for a source unit? try hooking another amp up and see what it does. no sound from the new amp, i'd check the rca's on back to the head unit. or if you are using a LOC make sure a connection didn't come loose or try grounding the LOC.
You say you have power to the amp so you see a green / red / etc light on the amp right ( light on)? If so ok you have power. Have you tried hooking up another speaker(s) to the amp? How many channels does this amp have 1, 2 ,3 ,4 channels? Did you smell anything burning? If you can provide more info I may be able to help.
First try to hook up another speaker(s) and see if it works.
