ignition switch

I'm have trouble getting an ignition switch out of my 1970 f100, it's located on the lower left hand side of the dash. Any suggestions?

It really takes a special tool, but I managed with a pair of needle nose in tow of the 3 notches. I don't know where to get the "special tool". Good luck.

If you remove the little screw on the bottom of the dash under the switch it releases the retainer it sits in and makes it a little easier to unscrew the switch from the trim ring.

Just take a screwdriver and tap it while its in one of the three notches counter-clockwise to unscrew the bezel. If your talking about the actual cylinder you need to insert your key, turn it all the way to the left, insert a small piece of wire in the small hole next to the key hole (paper clip works great), then continue turning left all the way, then pull it straight out. hope that helps, late Stan
