more 400 ???

A slight change in plan- I'm building my extra 400 for gas/maybe dual fuel propane as I have those propane parts. Then I will build the motor thats currently in the truck for propane specific if I decide i like it. This way I don't have to wait to get the money for the aussie heads etc before i get a decent motor in this thing. The motor is supposed to be at least half fresh 35K or so. I'll tear it down to get into it to see why water is in the oil- had front and back water jackets on both sides seriously sealed off with silicone- the only place on the intake gasket to have silicone and it was put in deep with the intention of sealing off the jackets?!?!. The engine had heating probs.

Looking for 9:1 - 87 pump gas

Badger flat top pistons
255DEH--plus matching springs etc
Double Roller timing chain Brand?????
roller rockers Brand????
Headers
Performer intake- already own with matching carb
new pumps yada yada

What do ya'll recommend for master rebuild kit....Head gasket thickness?
I'll have the head fluxed- may not need to machine if they are ok and a head gasket went south???? Also....I have an extra set of heads that came with motor-

I want to get this together for when my dad visits- old time mechanic.

Thanks

Cloyes makes a good double roller timing chain.
Check Tim Meyer for pedastal mount roller rockers.

Spend some time on the exhaust ports on those heads. Head flow is important on these motors.
