Smoke Stacks

Alright, so I found these 3" smoke stacks from JC Whitney. I am wondering if anybody knows if they will work on a 360 gas motor not diesle? Will they affect the performance or anything like that? They would look BAD so please let me know! Thanks

Those stacks are sort of "old school", had some on my 57 F100 20 years ago... They can be used on your gas motor with no problem, actually the 360 likes a little better flowing exhaust.

Did your associate get those made or buy the 5" stacks?

I don't think I will use the rain caps becuase they are angled out so I don't think rain should be a problem...

Dodge's Little Red Express had them from the factory back in the 70's.

They're getting real popular around my area with diesel pickups running flatbeds. I think on the right rig they look cool but if the rest of the rig isn't mimicking a semi-truck they look cheesie.

Ya, on the big tough looking trucks and diesel trucks it really makes them look beefier. It makes me think of the big rig trucks when I see the regular pickups with them installed. The only questions I would have is how much bed material must be removed for the holes? and do the external chrome pipes get too hot to touch? (There should be an internal exhuast pipe and an external chrome dress pipe, right?)

yeah Ron your right, there should be an inner pipe, and an outer heat shield/ chrome stuff...im planning on using 4" stacks for my snorkle exhaust on my 78 F-250 4x4, im even gonna run an air stack/snorkle beside one exhaust stack just like the big rigs......i would suggest a rain flap and a drain plug because water will find its way in there for sure.....

Like SwOkcOffRoader said, rain can get into the pipe. The big rigs will spew out quite a bit of moisture after setting through a rain storm if one of the pipes is pointing into the wind. I see the lower pipes that turn the exhaust up rust through quite often on the big rigs.

exactly.......way back when, my step father had an old KW and he installed radiator style drain pet***** in the lower part of the exhaust elbow, that way he could open them if there was any chance of heavy rain....
