97' 7.3 no start

97' 7.3 no start

My dads 97' 7.3 1 ton won't start. He was driving down the road and he said it was just like someone turned off the ignition. Brother came and read the codes. Said to replace cam sensor but did not work. Truck will crank but will not start. Won't throw anymore codes. What is wrong???

Also, my 95' 7.3 is still surging. Ford said to replace cam sensor also but did not work. Is there and oxygen sensor on diesel's? The check engine light will come on but won't throw any codes. Any suggestions?

No O2 sensor on the diesels.

If you crank it, and the tach doesn't move, it's almost certainly the CPS. Where are you getting your replacement parts from?

On the 97 that wont do, it sounds like it could be the IDM. Since you have 2, id pull the one out of the 95 and stick in the 97 just to find out for sure. 3 bolts hold it on, and it wont take to long to try.
