Anyone have any experience with altering the brake balance on a 2002 F350 SC diesel? Using front brake pads at an excessive rate. Usually run fully loaded, driver tends to brake late. This is a fleet truck, telling the driver to alter his braking habits won't help. Thinking of trying a proportioning valve to increase rear braking effort. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
I would not alter the braking proportions as the front are ment to do the majority of the stopping. As you stop, the weight shifts forward so that is where you need the power. Allowing the rear to have more power will possibly allow the rear to lock up and skid.
The operator needs to adjust, not the equipment.
I agree. Besides pads wearing out, looks like you'll be turning the rotors often. Is this the only fleet vehicle that is going through this or does it follow the driver? Maybe bleed the brake system, in case there's air in the rear lines. Used a proportioning valve on a dirt race car and it's something that gets changed often, even during one main event. So I'd stay away from that.
