I have a 04 F-150 Fx4 and I have the 18 in. rims, I know I can put 17 in. rims but I want to know the smallest rim I can fit with out changing brakes or anything like that. Could I at least get way with 16.5 in. rims?
If any of you have experence trying to do this, any comments would be great,
thanks,
Matt
I just want a new set, not ford. They sell 16.5 rims in 5, 6, and 8 lug and In our bolt pattern, but I was wondering If I can use some 16.5 in. rims, and fit them over my brakes, roters, and calipers.
17 rims are the smallest, and I don't think anyone makes anything smaller with the same 6 bolt pattern.
It's a new design.
On that FX-4 it should come stock with 32 inch tires, so going up to 33 would not be noticable.
There are a lot of 17 inch tires that are big enough, and you can get cheap 17 inch rims rather easily. The local pennysaver/recycler or even E-bay will have rims for 50-150 for four, if you don't care about the tires. I have purchased 18 inch rims/tires almost new for 300 a set. I have seen 17's with good tires go for 150.
Get some super cheap 17 'take offs' from a private party, tire shop, dealer, etc. And toss some big tires on them.
Good luck,
Chris
