400 ford cam question
I just bought a 79 f150 with a 400 and c6. Other than it having a burned valve it runs like a champ. After the heads get redone, I will be in the market for new cam. I would like it to give my motor a bit of a gallop at an idle. (about 800rpm). Since it is an automatic I dont want to have to raise the idle too far past 800rpm, so I dont want the cam to be too lopey. Does anyone here know of a cam they would suggest to get this idle? Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

I use the Crane 941. It is a noticable idle but not real lumpy. I can get it to idle at 600 in gear with a stock converter. You need to have at least 8.75 cr for it and probably for most any other cam that would get lopey on you.
