fuel pump gph?

I have a 72 ford f100 with a 302 in it, it has a comp cams 268H cam in it and an edelbrock 600 cfm carb on an edelbrock performer manifold, I have installed a new electric fuel pump on it and the engine runs good under 2500 rpm, but if you get over that for too long the engine begins to hunt. I bought the fuel pump from a local parts store and they told me it would feed my engine enough fuel but I don't think it is. Does this sound like a common fuel pump problem, If so what kind of pump should i get and how many gph should it flow.
thanks in advance

a mechanical pump would have worked just fine for you. did you install a fuel pressure regulator along with that electric fuel pump.

With the timing set I installed I couldn't use the stock fuel pump drive, I would have had to get a solid comp cams one. The fuel pump I bought is rated at 5-7 psi so I didn't buy a fuel regulator

5-7 i still think is to much pressure for a carb.
