I will be buying my first PSD in '05 or '06. I live in Phoenix, and while I do travel out of town on weekends, most of my miles are stop and go city. My 2 questions are; How do these trucks hold up with city miles, and how do diesels handle the heat? Thanks! ~Gary
Most construction and landscaping companies here are using PSDs for their worktrucks and they do plenty of stop and go, so I'm guessing they hold up fine. My driving is usually a mix, so I can't speak firsthand. As for the heat, we have summer days over 100 here in Oklahoma and my truck performs flawlessly.
I spend quite a bit of each day in my 6.0...Going here & stopping there with no adverse issues/runs great. As far as summer heat is concerned: An endorsement from someone in Tucson (Customz) should resolve any apprehension about using the truck in high temps-
FYI The best roadtrip fuel mileage I have ever experienced with my 6.0 was in 111 degree heat traveling at 85 mph in Southern Utah: 20.2 mpg
Both my 03, and now the 05 spend 'plenty' of time in the S.F. Bay Area commute.. Don't get much worse Zero problems with temps and/or running conditions... Plus, the tow/haul feature works great as a brake saver in slow and roll traffic.. Probably not the best commuter vehicle, but fun none the less!!
