This may seem like a bone head question, but does anyone know the lug specs/pattern for a 1998 Expedition (4WD, 5.4L)? I am looking at buying some wheels on-line, and I want to make sure I get the right ones.
Equally important as bolt pattern diameter, stud size and stud quantity is OFFSET. Many an unwary buyer has swallowed a set of aftermarket wheels because of ordering the wrong positive/negative offset.
I have 14mm stud wheels and have used wheels from an older truck (that had the 12mm studs) with no problem. I've assumed that if the holes are big enough it's O.K.
I can't be sure that the reverse is possible, but I think so. The old wheels apparently have the same size holes. And it seems that Ford would have made them so they wouldn't fit if it was a hazard; there's too many people who don't read the instructions!
I guess the only way to be sure is to ask Ford, however they might be over-cautious for legal liability reasons.
