My mower is about 4 years old. 2 stroke. If the fuel tank has gas in it when I put it up after mowing the gas will leak out thru the carb. and drip onto the deck. What do I need to clean or is even possible.
Check your needle and seat in the carb. It probably isnt seating properly allowing gas to flow. If the float in the carb is metal (my guess is its plastic if its only four years old) shake it and see if its full (bad thing) If it is, get a new float too.
Same thing happened to me, the metal float had a micro-tiny pinhole leak and filled with gas. Pull the cover off the float and and remove the little metal pin and spring that the float hinges on. Shake the float near your ear and you may hear the gas swishing inside. The hole will be so small you'll wonder how any gas got inside, and I doubt you'll actually be able to see the hole. A good way to find it is by leaving the gas-filled float on the blacktop on a hot day, the expanding gas will bubble out the hole as it tries to escape the hot float.
You may want to run to the parts counter first and get a tune -up kit. I believe the standard kit comes with a new needle valve, a very small o-ring, float/spring/pin, and float cover gasket. I don't recall the price, but they are cheap.
