ignition switch

My ignition switch is stiff in my 82 F-250 4x4, you have to twist it back by hand just a little after you start the engine or the blower motor and turn signals won't work. I have sprayed WD-40 into the key hole but this didn't help any. Would this be in the ignition switch it self under the steering column? It will spring back from the start position to disengage the starter but just wont come back all the way. any thoughts? Thanks.

ignition switch

You need to remove the ignition switch first to see it that is the problem. Remove the switch and turn the key, it should turn very freely, if not, the gear and/or shaft may be binding and need a little grease. To grease the gear, remove the lock and cyl out and spray white lithium grease into the gear. If the shaft is a little bent it might be binding on the housing, which would require you to grease the shaft, or replace it if it is very bent.
