Hi, this is a 82 302 engine 2bll carb, and the problem is that, when in park,
the engeine idle at 12000 rpm, but when a switch to reverse or drive
the idle drop to about 7500 rpm, and when cold some times it stall,
is this normal?( i don't thik it is), and how the rpm's are supose to be?
i already check for vacume leaks and finde 2 and already fix em, i have been playing with the carb, and time but it doesn't seems to help much, and
the problem still there...what else can i check?
It sounds like you still have a vacuum leak. The reason it stalls is too lien condition when cold. This is signs of a bad choke setup or a vacuum leak. While the engine is running, with the air cleaner removed, slightly close the choke butterfly, is should stall immediately, but if it does not, than you have a vacuum leak somewere. Your idle should not be no were near that high. It needs to be brough back to near 800 rpms. You run the risk of damaging something by putting in to gear at that high of RPMS.
