Tranny swap
Hi yall. I'm sorry for not doing a search first, but I'm in Iraq right now and my internet time is very limited.
I have a 84 F150 351W 4x4 short bed with a 3 speed auto. I'd like to add an overdrive and was wondering wich would be cheeper and/or easier. Swap in an AOD or get one of them gear spliters that mount behind the transfercase. I priced the gear spliter at around 2500 to buy and install myself. No need to lengthen or shorten drive shafts.
I have no idea on the estemated cost of a AOD swap though or what all would need to be changed besides driveshafts and crossmembers.
I appreciate yalls help, I want to get my ducks in a row so when I get home I can jump in and get a few mods out of the way that I've been planing on.

Cant help with the swap but many thanks for protecting us and our Country! Of course I am assuming you are in the military and not vacationing in Iraq. *;o)
