Finally, I have enough money to buy the 514 Crate motor. I've got a '96 2WD F-150 Regular cab long bed with the 5.0 in it, but i want this truck to be a real powerhouse (more than it is already) Does anyone have any ideas on how to make this easier? What Trans and rear end should i use? I dont care about losing A/C, Power Steering etc.
My friend with his lightning laughs at me, he states he has 380 HP at 5500 rpm. I laughed and said i'm going to have 400+ HP at 250 rpm.
You're going to need a big block trans. I'd use a well built C6 or a ZF 5 or 6 speed. With a dana 60 or 70 rear. What is the RPM band for the engine? I'd run 3.73 or 4.10 gears.
That 514 will eat up and spit out anything less than a well built C6 auto (best choice) or a ZF5/6, or T18. You will also need a Moser 9" or Dana 60 rear axle. I would go with the Moser for the new factor, you don't have to relocate anything and you can get them in any width you want, with drum or disk brakes.
You'll need motor mounts for a 460 in a 2wd F250 80-96.
