Hard Seats? Possible Mods

Many have complained that your seats are too hard. I have posted some pictures in my gallery of how easy it is to access the front and center portion of the seat bottom, to add foam for extra padding. The front section is secured by a long plastic clip that folds under and fastens to a bar underneath. The center portion of the seat is accessed from underneath in back. Fold the seatback forward and you will see a black bracket that has to be unbolted (4 torx bolts - I used a large hex bit) to easily get to the long black retaining clip. Once you free the clip, rebolt the bracket just to not screw any alignment up. Recline the seat and you can now reach up inside the cover. You can now experiment with adding foam of varying thicknesses and densities. The pictures of just the cover alone shows the retaining clips and also the black fabric channels that contain rods that get hogringed in place. (I didn't remove this, I got an extra cover when I bought my truck.) I know I haven't explained this procedure well, but this really is simple and may help solve some comfort issues.

Howdy rougeriver, have you had any problems with your seatbelt disable system after modding the cushion? That is, if you did the cushion on the passenger side. That module under there is very sensitive, and there are so darn many warnings in the shop manual that I have been hesitant to put on seat covers.

I've added power and passenger lumbar to my seats, and have had them broken down to the components but I never messed with the foam area. At least not yet...

Hey Chris, Thanks for your inquiry. My main reason for the post about the seats was to show how easy it is to access the foam under the seatcovers so that extra foam could be added. I just added a thin layer of soft foam to both seats with no adverse effects to the sensors. I liked my seats before and now I like them even better.
