Im still looking for a truck and F150s are one of the trucks i like. I dont have a super-high budget so im looking for something in the 1997-2001 range-whatever i can find for a good deal with 4x4 and ext. cab. It will probably be closer to a 97 or 99 if i do get one. I plan to put some lift on it, but nothing HUGE. I was wondering if a truck with 100,000-150,000 miles would be ok to lift without having a bunch of stuff break on me really fast? What should i look for?
On some the windshield leaks a little, allowing water to enter the fuse box and reak havok. I dont know when they fixed it, but there are only 3 or so threads for the plugs to screw into and has been known to blow out plugs.
I'm going tonight to look at a 4WD '01 Super Crew XLT 5.4 with 106,000 miles. The miles are a little high for my taste, but the price is right in line with my budget. I've already got the money, so as long as it's not a "pile" and they give me what I want for my Bronco, I should be driving it home.
Other than the spark plug issues, and the possible leaks, is there anything else I should look for on a truck with this many miles?
Also, does the XLT have the movable foot pedals?

the only thing i can add is that the 99 and up motors sould have the pi (power improved) heads. they say that there good for an extra 30 rwhp over 98 and down mod motors.
