ignition switch

How hard is it to replace the ignition switch in on the truck. This is going to be my first experiment into doing this. It has been waiting to break for a while now, I know it is only 8 bucks for the switch and I really don't want to have to pay to have it done. Any advise guys?

it took me about 5 mins

Hi i dont know what year truck you have on mine a 1988 f 150 super cab there is a tiny hole below the key that i pushed a small nail in to release the key switch and it just pulled right out .... oh by the way i turned the key to run posion befor i took it out... it was an easy thing just took me a couple trys to get the new one lined up right...

do you want to replace the ignition switch, or the key cylinder? there is a big difference between them. also, what year is the truck? it makes a difference on the year
