I am trying to find out what type of transmision I have on my 1994 f150 302. I may be the 4r70w or the eaod. the pan measures about 15" long. I am realy looking for shift kits for my transmidion, butneed to start by finding out what type I have. Any help would be great. Thanks
P.S. have instaled Superchip,Amsoil Air Filter,Jacobs pro-street ignition,Timming advanced to 13, and home-made ram air intake out of 460intake and the original skorkel intake tubing.
Kent ,
Look on the inside of the drivers door for the build sticker ...it has all the truck info. Look for the section on the sticker that says Trans ...It will have a letter . My info shows the following.. G=C6 T=AOD E=E4OD . More than likely its an E4OD , But that sticker will tell you for sure . I dont think the 4R70W was used until the 97 model yrs on the trucks ...I may be wrong , but I think thats when that tranny was first used ?
Paul,
The letter listed is a "U" on the stiker. Thanks for the information. I have seen on other wed sites that the lenght of the oil pan on the transmision is a indication on what type it is. I have look at it at every posible way to see if there are any tags or markings to indicate what type it is , Short of taking it in to the dealer and asking them this quaestion and looking like a fool. any other info would be helpful Thanks.
I believe "U" is the current code for a 4R70W, which would have been designated as AOD-E prior to '97. Go to <a href="http://www.baumannengineering.com">http://www.baumannengineering.com</a>/ and look around they give you lots of info on how to tell which tranny you have. If you have a button to turn off the OD, it's not an AOD. The pan on the E40D is about 21" long, the pan on the AOD/AOD-E/4R70W is about 15" long and there are some differences in the shift pattern as well. Check Baumann out they have some really good info and hardware.
