Just stopped and fueled up the PSD and I see that the wonderful oil companies think it's time to raise the price again. Here in central Kansas, it's up 16 cents a gallon since Wednesday to $2.22 a gallon....and it's not even a holiday week end! What a rip off...paying that kind of money for no 2. I would guess you guys farther west are paying more and have you seen this drastic increase in the last few days?
Well I'm luckly reaping the rewards of a new gas station moving to town. Diesel as of last week was 1.99 at the new station and 2.19 every where else. Needless to say every farmer with a diesel swamped the small town store every day.
It's a joke, seems like diesel prices are flucuating more than gas prices. I think the oil companies have it backwards, they are suppose to screw with gas prices all the time, and leave the diesel prices at a constant low. For memorial day weekend, the friday before, at the station across from work diesel was at $2.03 when I got to work, when I left it was up $2.07, but gas didn't change. ??? Just doesn't make sense why they would raise diesel prices for the weekend, not like truckers and such are gonna by driving their big rigs to go meet family.
what are you guys complaining about, heck 2.22 is cheap to me. here in idaho it was around 2.66 forever, i just noticed 2.22 and almost cried i was so happy.
Was reading in the paper this morning about the oil market and they say people are acting like there is a heating oil shortage, and driving the prices up. They expect oil to go over 56.00 a barrell in the next couple weeks, closed friday at $55.63, so that will give us another increase at the pumps. Buncha BS if ya ask me, and to think many years ago they used to throw diesel away cause they didnt have a market for it.
According to an engineer for Union Pacific railway, they use 10 million gallons of diesel PER DAY.
...and THAT is just one railroad, in one country.
There is a massive market for diesel now. However, that doesn't change the fact that the oil companies are screwing around. I can get diesel for $2.35 at one station near my house, down from $2.59 two weeks ago. Another station has it for $2.62 - and they were at $2.33 two weeks ago!!!

You work for the U.P.... I've work the rails once in a life time and man they suck down fuel....
took 500-800 gallons to go 136 miles, PER UNIT!!! most had two or three, pre train @ 20 trains a day!!!!!!! 20,000 gallons, to move approx. 200,000 TONS of freight 136 miles so if you look at the math it actualy takes 2 gallons of fuel to move 20 tons 136 miles, you can't do that with a big rig....
anyway... diesel $2.09-$2.25 around the twin cities area...
Went to eastern Idaho for MM day, paid 2.10 in boise when I left, all of eastern Idaho is was still at 2.45, so needless to say when I filled up to come back it was just enough to top off at 2.10 again. Just hope that is stays that way...
