what is really funny , since you bring up power, look at the intakes of the 5.0EFI truck and the 5.8EFI truck!!! the 5.0 uses a Holley SystemMax with a modified upper, while the 5.8 uses a Ford bastarpiece, (look at the PORTS!) the 5.0 intake definately outflows the 5.8! so why would Ford use such a sorry intake on the 5.8??? I also agree with the ease of the kit. but if i know i can do it cheaper i will! i have a lower intake of a 87 bronco that i'm saving for a 85 TBird, you can purchase the Holley Systemax Upper plinium, which looks a lot like the Trick Flow for 350$ and change.

hey guys, sorry i havent checked this post in a while. ive abandoned the carb swap and put a ford racing mass air conversion on the truck. do a search in the 5.0302351w forum and look for the title Mass air conversion success!

by the way i didnt have to remove my upper intake. i just took my time and worked the injector plugs off. i did do a little cussing on this part though. oh and the 80 302 and c6 ive got listed in the classifieds. a very good deal for anyone interested

You're buying the wrong fuel pumps then. I've had the same Purolater 30 gal/hr low pressure electric pump on my 89 Ranger for over 5 years now. Cost me $25 new at Advance Auto Parts. Run a filter before the pump and another before the carb.

One thing you will need to have a spare inj with you at all times! a spare box wouldn't hurt either. If you have the analog unit, don't even bother converting it to the digital box... I did it and somehow fried 3 DI boxes using Holley's instructions. if it breaks, there is NO going to AutoZone for replacement parts! You'll have too order. Overnight ain't cheap!!! mount the box where there is absolutely NO heat! and very little temp variation, you can use a cooling fan. Don't bother with the Oxy Sensor kit its useless. other than what i mentioned , it works so...so... I always had issues maintaining a single tune. mainly because of the temperature sensitivity of the box. Your timing needs to be set good! you'll need to set the throttle right because there is no Idle control, the 1 thing the unit needed! I think Holley finally put one on the 2DI model. Even though GM looks the same, there minor differences. Proprieritary reasons obviously! YOU CANNOT USE GM TBI INJECTORS IN THESE UNITS!

If I were you i'd rebuild the 300 IMPO its a better engine. a little head work does a lot for these motors, not to mention a 4" bore x 4" stroke Vs. a 4" bore x 3" stroke on the 302! is the 87 EFI? if it is, i'd use the stock EFI 5.0 stuff parts are very numerous and cheap! like dirt cheap!! Heck there probably somebody on this site who has done a Mass Air conversion and will give it to you, just to get ride of it.

the edlebrock is a very good carb...but if the truck is EFI i'd retain that feature.and since 87 was SD its not a big issue even if you are going to a v8

I think it is against the law to change from EFI to carb and have it legally pass emissions testing. But, this is in New Jersey. Other states may not be as strict.

Oh, GOD not Nuuu Joy-zee... just escaped from that place...well i had to pay 3 bucks to leave anyway. what part? on a 87 Ford F-series you could probably get away with either. plus Ive seen a few cars in NJ that shouldn't be on the road, with the proper paperwork!
