Hey, here in North East Ohio I noticed this evening all the gas stations have lines pouring out into the streets. What is up? I assume it is something to do w/ the bombings, but I can't make the connection.
One idea I had is that Iraq may cut off our raw materials supply and we'll soon see $3.00/gal fuel (tomorrow), but that is only speculation. I haven't heard ANYTHING about fuel on the news all day...has anyone else?
Ya, its the same hear in Texas. Story I hear is that we have cut off trade until we confirm who the culprits are. Gas supposed to go throught the roof tomorrow.

Seems to be the same here in California. When I went to gas up at 6:00, all the gas stations in the area were swamped. When I talked to the attendants they stated it had been that way all day...One would assume because of the attacks.??

My thoughts prayers are with the survivors of families and loved ones lost in todays devastating tragedy. God Bless.
We can expect fuel prices to go up, but don't expect any new record highs. In past times of oil crisis, the Federal Petroleum Reserve was used to buffer shortages in the market. If our government wants to maintain normalcy now, they may do this again if necessary. As of now, any price increases will be due to market speculation, not any actual shortages.
Last night when I heard on the radio about $5.00 per gallon gas at some stations here in Michigan, I bolted for my local station with my pickup and then motorhome. Total purchase was 50 gallons at $1.79 per gallon. As the last gallon went in, the attendant was changing the sigh to $1.99. Saved $10. This morning when I went by it was back to $1.79. Still, I am driving with a light foot and the motorhome (460 V8) is parked. The station was very busy, but I did not have to wait long.
This morning, there were not any long lines at the gas stations in the Fort Wayne, IN area. However, yesterday was a different story. Every gas station I drove by yesterday afternoon had at least 30 cars waiting in line, and some of them were even blocking the road. This morning I filled up the company truck for $1.64 per gallon, and there was no waiting in line. I read something about the price of the Oil Stocks going higher in the European Stock Market yesterday after what happened in New York, PA, and Washington D.C.
LAST EDITED ON 12-Sep-01 AT 03:52 PM (EST)[p] Last night I bought gas at a discount station here in phoenix for 1.21 9/0. did not see big lines in my neighborhood. Before labor day it hit a low of 1.16 9/0
Station by me went down to 1.69 and is not busy. Michigan attourney general is working on prosecuting certain stations that are accused of price gouging (up to $25,000 per violation). I have no problem with $5.00 per gallon gas if there is a real shortage, because that will gaurentee that when I need gas I can get it. But for a station to jack up the price like that when there is an abundant supply (which there is in Michigan right now), taking advantage of fears stemming from Tuesday's disasters, in my opinion, is sick and shows no respect for the victims of these disasters.
While, oil prices go up my family owns some wells so we make more money , but I don't think oil prices are going up. I think just some gas stations are raising their prices to take advantage of scared people. Tuesday there were long lines(probbably the whole county) filling up with gas, blocking off a few streets, a day I'll remember.
