another truck problem
While driving down the road I hear a roaring sound in my rear end. I can't tell if its the driver or passenger side or in the middle. Someone told me to see if I could turn the drive shaft and to see if it had any slack in it. Well its tight and there is no play in it. what else could it be? thanks.

Be sure it is full of grease. Outer bearings go bad. Sometimes the rear end is just noisy. I had a growling rear end in a 1984 F-150 that ran that way for 300k.
More than once, I have changed the grease in the rear end on my vehicles. I believe there is nothing wrong with doing this at all.
