Day 1

Just picked up my new 2005 Black/Parchment EB Expy yesterday. Boy it looks like I have abit of reading to do. There are so many features to figure out how to use.

What a vehicle! Power, convenience, space, amenities, I just don't know how you can get much more of a vehicle for the price.

My wife and I have our third 4runner coming off of lease soon and never thought I would be buying an American vehicle. We have been test driving vehicles for a month now. If you would have asked me if I was going to end up buying a Ford Expedition before we drove it I would have told you you were nuts, being a Toyota guy. Well, all that changed when we drove that first EXPY.

We drove the Volvo xc90-underpowered, overpriced, good looking, smallish.

We drove the Sequoia-bland interior, overpriced, good size, adequate power, blah.

The EXPY-good size, powerfull, feature rich, value priced. I can't believe what we purchased this car for.

My views exactly - we baught our 05 EB just 20 days ago. So far with 1500 miles we are pleasantly surprised. Hope you'll like your new ride as much as we do. Congratulations !!!

Also - I love it when my (almost) 4 years old son says "its not an expedition its a ford-expedition"

BTW we have a Lexus RX300 and had a Mercedes C230 - which has been replaced by the Expy ... So far Ford's initial quality is better than the C230 and at par with Lexus ...

We wanted to get the heated/cooled seats because that option also comes with power passenger seat, but Advance Trac/RSC was a must-have feature for us and only one vehicle (in our price range) on the dealer's lot had RSC.

I feel really safe driving my family and friends around in this vehicle. So far so good ;-)

I would rather have the Advancetrac than the power moonroof, but I had my budget and there was only 2 vehicles in Mass and Southern NH that fit our "must have" list without the added cost items that would have brought the vehicle out of our price range.

Must haves for us included heated/cooled seats, reverse sensing, and the 3rd row powerfold seat.

I wonder if our Expy will be unruly in the mean Northeast winters of late without the RSC?

I'm thinking of getting the Cabelas Catch-all floor mats, and I'm looking for a custom trailer hitch reciever cover shaped like a lobster.

I am surprised by Ford's decision to equip such a small percentage of vehicles with AdvanceTrac/RSC. I mean this is a great safety feature, so put it on as many units as you can and advertise the crap out of it. To get attention of people like yourself and I, who have never looked at an American vehicle before, such safety features must be hi-lited and heavily advertised.

BTW - I paid what I think is about $1K more for this vehicle (because it had RSC) than what I could have paid for another unit (at another dealer) with the same MSRP (had DVD and moonroof instead of RSC) ...

IMHO the AdvanceTrac/RSC, and most importantly the Safety & Security Package (Canopy air bags), should be standard equipment. If you have not already, check out the post in this thread entitled "Rolled My 04 Expy today". It is several pages back and is dated 5/19/05. The writer and his family rolled over their Expy and the canopy system (and seat belts) worked miracles.

Think they would give me a good price on my "peach" 03/EB/5.4 loaded (seriously haven't had near the probs that many have) on an 05? Probably just depends on the deler...eh?

Day 2

I paid $34,000 with $200 doc fees, $1700 Ma sales tax and $85 plates/title fees. Total check off the lot $35985.00

Sticker was $45850 with the above mentioned options.
Hope that helps anyone out there shopping.

Where to buy Floor Mats?

I'm thinking about getting the nifty catch-all front and 2nd row seat floor mats and then the husky rear cargo liner for the back. Has anyone ordered these from Cabelas, or would you get them somewhere else?

the heated/cooled is great! The cooled part feels funny, had my 05 for about 2 mos. I love it over my 03 but, that damn electric throttle (whatever you call it) takes a lil getting used to.
