I remember as a kid back in the 50's-60's when we went to
Coeur d'alene (sp) Idaho, there was this concession booth at the midway that sold these waffle type things that tasted absolutely great.
They had butter & cinnamon sugar sprinkled on them.

I forgot to mention------PORK RINDS (chicharones)
Loved those things with habernero or jalepeno sauce.
Pork Rinds!!! Oh yeah!!!
Utz - Salt and Vinegar potato chips, too!! Yum - yum! Absolute favorite.
Utz - Crab Chips, too! (Must be a Southern Maryland thing!)
Salt water taffee!!! Not just a Jersey or California thing. Ocean City, Maryland!!!
Popcorn with Old Bay seasoning on it. I'll eat it til it comes out of my ears!
And Tiger Dan, were you around when Playland at the beach was around? I used to watch them make taffy there. I can still taste it.
Wow, that dates you! You must be really old...!
When did they tear it down, sometime in the '60s?
I grew up in the '60s and have no memories of Playland myself, but my mom talks about it. Her grandmother lived in S.F. and took her there many times as a girl, as did her folks. Mine took me to Fisherman's Wharf and Golden Gate Park on our S.F. trips.
Hmm, think I'll watch TV right now and have some Salt Water Taffy... -TD

They tore it down in 1972-73. Ask your mom about Fleishhackers Swimming pool. I used to swim there when I was a kid back in the mid 60's. Now it's the parking lot for the Zoo. At the time, Fleishhackers was the worlds largest outdoor saltwater pool at roughly 1000' (1/5 mile) long and 150' wide at 6 million gallons of sea water. It was cold.
Just made my jerkey w/ extra habenero sauce, so I'm off to munch and burn.
