Does any body know if i could take a 94-96 grill head lamp assembly and install it on my 89 f series? with out replacing fenders. if so is it hard to do or if not is it due to the fenders hood etc... thanks for you help
The only way to interchange any of the nose pieces from the 92-96 trucks to the 80's to 91 trucks (or vice versa) is to exchange the header panel, both fenders, the hood, the lights, light surrounds, the radiator support, the body bushings underneath the radiator support, the front valance panel, and a few other things.
It's a big job but it's doable if you have the time and patience. Also, the two different year ranges have different things in different places under the hood - like the Ignition module, some of the wiring, the relays, the starter relay, and some of the emissions stuff. This matters because most of this stuff mounts on the inside of the fenders, so different year ranges have different holes drilled and tapped. YOu'd have to 'adjust' this to make it all work together/.
frederic, we all enjoy the tinkering you do to your truck. you have to admit that you are pretty far out there sometimes. i always find your posts informative and humorous.
I still crack up over the picture he posted where he put the fancy instrument cluster in his truck, looks like someone tore the hell out of the interior and robbed some stuff. All is well though. Pretty brilliant fella if you ask me.
