Clutch question HELP PLEASE

On my '88 F-350 my clutch went out and i went and bought a clutch kit that came with the slve cylinder. But the slave cylinder that came with the kit is one that is on the inside of the bell housing but the one on the truck is on the out side of the transmission? did this year of truck have two different locations for the slave cylinder? and the engine size is a 460 (7.7L) any help would be greatly appreicated.

Hi,

I would go back to the parts house that you picked up the kit from and have them look it up again. This is TOO common a mistake.

Take the old slave cylinder with you for comparison.

Good luck,
Lee

If you have a zf tranny, the slave is on the inside for small blocks and on the outside for big blocks. looks like they gave the small block kit

yeah the parts place just looks up the first/ cheapest option and gives you that. I have to get on them for the clutch/flywheel on my truck because my truck is a 77 with the I6 and there's a split in the clutch/flywheel mid-year for that model. that's not your problem, but you have to stay on those guys to get you the right part. There's normally one guy on each shift that actually knows what you're talking about. If you can get to him you're golden.
