when I turn my steering wheel to the right or left there is a
squeeky like sound , my mechanic said he traced it down to the
pitman arm, he thinks that it maybe dry of grease causing the sound.
it is not worn, where it is loose, it just makes a squeeking noise ever turn of
the wheel. has anyone ever experienced this. and how hard would it be for me
to replace this myself?
thanks

my 97 does it all the time. After i replaced the ball joints it was not a loud but still squeeks. The wisdom of using sealed for life grease boot has escaped me.
When my early 96 '97 was about a year old or so, the pitman arm "sealed" joint started to make the big squeak. I got a grease needle for my grease gun, stabbed the boot around the back, about in the middle. Pumped some grease in, figured it would just last a little while, and that I would end up replacing the pitman arm soon anyway.
NOT!
That was 8 years ago, and it's still good!
Thanks for the info guys,
I got the needle for my grease gun Friday and greased the pitman arm,
sealed the hole with permatex and the squeek was instantly gone!
Can't believe I listen to that annoying noise for so long.
Thanks for your help.
