I own a 72 F100 with the stock 360. I have replaced the original carb with a remanufactured carb. The engine runs perfect at idle and while cruising. When I take off from a dead stop, it hesitates alot an then clears up during acceleration. It does this when hot and cold. Just a little less when hot, but not much better. When cold it just about dies then a takes right off. What can I do? Thanks.
You didn't say in your post, but if you you have points, you might want to check them. That is usually what my truck does when the points are out. Also stomping on the gas pedal is very bad on your fuel milage.
I guess it could be points, but if it was me I would be looking at the linkage to the accelerator pump on the new carb - you need an extra shot of gas when you step on it. Likely your carb came with a proceedure to adjust this - if not, just let us know what sort of carb you do have and someone will be able to tell you.
A little less when hot sounds like your running lean as it's worse when cold. You may have more than one problem to correct besides the carb.

I have the exact same problem with my 67 with the Ford brand carb. Any tips on how to adjust that linkage or the points. I'm tired of not having a book...any good places to get one of those too?
You can get original shop manuals or after market manuals for your truck on eBay. I haven't checked but manuals may be available too here on FTE. You really have to have a manual. As an alternaive, you can search these forums and print out the discussion threads on whatever project you're working on. Good luck.

When I first bought my truck it did the same thing! The problem turned out to be the fool before me had the vacuum advance going right to the manifold instead of the ported line on the carb! You might also check you acc pump look down the throat of carb and work linkage as soon as you move linkage you should see a squirt of gas comming out your venturies! I put a ford electronic distro and box on my 68 and it was a big difference. got everything from auto zone rebuilt 76 distro, new control box, new 76 coil all with a life time Guarentee for under $90.00 after I got back the core charge!
My truck does this when I have .048 jets on it. If I put my .053s on it it stops. I rebuilt my carb but there's also a chance I didn't get everything just right.

Thanks for the help.
Motorhaven has reproductions of the ford shop manuals (click on parts link above then go to books and manuals) You can get them in books or on cdrom. I think cd rom is cheaper. Also Amazon and some book stores have a book I think it's called ford truck bible its supposed to cover all F-Series up to somewhere in the 90s and give you specs, interchangeability and performance tips. I have not tried this book yet but I here it is great.
MY 70 hesitates when cold at times and the points are perfect. I have a heat riser type choke and the heat riser is not hooked up I think this is my problem maybe yours too. I dunno for sure.
Any chance you kept the jets out of your original carb? That way you could tell if those in your rebuild are too small. Then you could install the originals. It only takes a couple minutes.
