For those of you who have one of these stores near by, you know that they have an assortment of stuff for sale that changes regularly.
Well, I was at the Whitby store today and in the surplus section I found a trailer wiring harness tap for my truck. It plugs right in line with the existing wiring and terminates in a 4 pin flat trailer connector. No cuting or crimping required. They had a few different types but all Ford. Pick ups, Broncos and Rangers. I was surprised that they had one for my '76. Truly plug and play! Oh, almost forgot, it set me back $1.50, can't complain about that.
Thought I'd pass it along if anyone wanted to add a trailer harness to their truck. Be careful though, it's hard to leave this store without buying more than you came for.
We have family in Whitby.
In fact, Michelle's brother works there now.
In 2003,I wasready to shop in thew Whitby store but even though the number & address was in the phone book, the store wasn't open yet so I had to wait until summer 2004 to shop there.
Besides the Canadian's on here,I am constantly telling our American
friends that it is worth it to come up to Canada to shop at Princess Auto & C.T..
They also have a great deal on light magnifiers for easier reading of shop manuals and the like.
You've got to be steady as a rock when you enter the doors of a Princess Auto store. It's nearly impossible to get out with only what you came for!
Good thing I like impulse shopping !!!!!!!
AL.
Oh great! A special truck that needs special wiring!
What special needs to be done? I'll dig around for the PA website.... As often as I go to Mississauga lately I should go to the PA in Kitchener at Homer Watson & 401 since it's on the way....
Actually Dennis, the package says it's for Ford trucks thru '79. It has the 4 pin connector that should mate with the connector at the rear of the truck (drivers side near tail lite). I'll put it in today and get back to you.
Looking forward to hearing your results. Do you have a brand or part number for it at all? I didn't find anything in the online catalogue, either in the surplus or the trailer sections.
Hey loudfords, sorry about the delay. I got a nasty head cold that put me down for a few days. Is there anything worse than having a bad cold when it's +30 outside, miserable.
Well enough about my problems.......
The kit went in as I expected no problems other than smacking my forehead into the exhaust pipe ! It was easy and the ground wire was even long enough to reach the factory ground screw behind the tail light
I have a '76 but I'm pretty sure that the connector is the same for a '79.
The kit is made by CALTERM, part number 08734 " Ford Pickup Trailer Tap Kit",
Thru 79 Ford Full Size Pickup.
They had quite a few of them, I'll pick up a couple more this weekend if I can get out to the store.
