My name is Brian, and I just traded my 1982 Mazda Rx7 GSL for a 1987 Eddie Bauer Bronco II. As near as I can tell without a carfax, it just rolled over 100K miles, and overall it's in pretty good shape. The interior is very good, other than some smokers evidence, burns etc., and just the funky buildup of having sat for most of the last 5 years.
Now for the bad news:
Radiator leak, Head gasket and/or valve cover leak, tranny problems, fiberglass damage on hatch. Small engine fire yesterday. Resulting from overheating due to radiator leak, and thus catching leaked oil on fire. No permenent damage though that I've found so far.
Don't overheat the engine, the 2.9L cracks the heads easy when overheated. Leaking oil from the valve covers is a common problem but can be fixed with careful work.
Welcome to FTE. Sounds like you've already had some problems with your BII.
You're going to want to swap in a radiator from like a 91-94 Explorer. That will help with the cooling down of the engine. Until then, you should make sure your current radiator doesn't run dry.
Unfortunately I'll have to fix the radiator and the gaskets before it's really reliable again. The radiator has a definate leak, and the gaskets obviously have seen better days as well.
As for my hatch, it does have a lock, not just a latch, and it is tied in with the door locks as far as the power lock button. I'm assuming this is standard with all EB B2's isn't it?
