Backspacing
What I need to know is, what is the min. and max backspacing for my rig. What is better more or less. Can someone can explain this to me to me.
What i have is : 1996 Ford f-150 4x4
6"lift front (BDS)
4"lift back(BDS)
35x12.5x15 BFG
15x10 wheels
The backspacing is 4"
Normally you would want to keep the tires close to the truck but not have the front tires hit any suspension components when the vehicle turns. This usually works out to 4" of backspacing for an F-150 truck.
Running with a low amount of backspacing loads the outer front wheel bearings more than normal. Your turning radius also increases as the tires stick out further.
Your 12.5x35's and 10" rim with with 4" of backspace sounds about right. This should just miss your radius arms when making a turn.
