MAF Modification, Need some input
I have a 97 F150 with a 4.6L and a manual. I was cleaning the MAF Sensor the other day and noticed that it has a plate that slows down the air that passes through the sensor. I was just wondering if I have a aftermarket intake if removing thiis plate would cause any problems or if it would help. I have seen many aftermarket MAF sensors and none of them have any type of air resistor in them. Any input would be great guys.

you mean by the way the air goes through the front, accross the sensor and instead of flowing straight through, it goes out the top? I would not modify it as it was the way ford designed it to meter air.

Why would they make it so you can remove the plate then if they didn't have a reason for it to be removed? Ford also didn't design the f150 for a cold air intake, so that's why I thought maybe it would help. But you do have a point.
