Well, I'm on a quest to extract every bit of power and efficiency out of my EFI 460 in my '88 F-250. Problem is that the choices of headers for this truck/motor combo are slim, and the 'good ones' run between $600-1200. My budget for headers is under $500. With this being said, I got to looking on summit and found that Headman makes both long tube and shortie headers for EFI 460's, however they are only for automatic tranny trucks.
Now, for my questions: How good are these Headmans, they have 1/4" mounting flanges, 16ga 1 /34" primary tubes, 3" collectors? Can these headers for auto tranny trucks be used on my manual tranny truck(I'm willing to do neccesary cuting/welding/fabrication)? What are the advantages of long tubes vs shorties? Anyone know of any other headers that would fit my application, aside from Banks, Thorely, and L&L? Thanks for any help.

Im no expert on that year truck, but I cant see a huge difference between the auto and manual setups. The quote above is all I need to read. If you are willing to make them work, go for it. It should not be that hard.
Well, I think I'm gonna splurge on the Thorley Tri-y's at $580. Thats not too bad I don't think considering they are very good quality, plus that price includes a y-pipe and everything else I need.
