What's up fellas. Let's get straight to the point. My dream mods for my truck ( 94 f150 5.0 standardcab short bed ) have hit reality. I.E. - money, or lack there of. I've seen a few good shorty style headers out there. The ones of interest are the Ford Racing Shorty headers. 309.95 from Summit i think. Question . . . Any good? I'm mainly lookin for performance, sound second. i'm going to be lowering my truck 3" in the front and 5" in the back so long tubes are out of the question. Also, any other brands out there worth buying? I only want to do this once, not again a few years down the road. I've heard good things from BBK and Hooker of course, but I'm not sure of what else. Also, is ceramic coated absolutley essential for long life? Any other material up to the test of time? Or, should i just save up and get the hooker or BBk ceramic shorties ? Thanks in advance.
heres a q y would long tubes be outr of the q i have a 73 with 2inchfront drop and 4 inch rear still more room then my fathers porches i have long tube ford racing but also have a set of shortys prob the one your talking about i perfer ford racing stuff but if you are streeting the truck go with shortys other wise if going to be draging go with long tubes also deff get ceramic its worth the money
i was thinking about getting the hooker dual exhaust kit. ( header back ) will it bolt up to a set of shorties? also, can the flowmaster x pipe fit with this kit ( with modification of course ) also, any suggestions on what type of mufflers? i hear the hooker aero chamber's flow great and supposedly increase gas mileage, true? problem is, pipe is 2 1/4 inch, muffler is 2 1/2 inch. i think i saw some pipe size increaser things in a catalog recently. finally, the mufflers need to be center in, offset out. are the hooker aero chambers that way?

Reason: because i messed up
If the kit is made for stock manifolds, they should bolt up to shorties just fine.
Aerochambers flow just fine, most any aftermarket name-brand muffler will be just as good. Go with what you like sound-wise. The flow differences between aftermarket mufflers are usually pretty small. Better flow=better efficiency= can equal better MPG, if you keep your foot out of it all the time.
Reducers are all over the place, parts stores, car catalogs, etc. Get some to make your muffler fit right. 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 and back is fine and will not hurt flow.
Look at the muffler you want in a catalog, or talk the to the salesperson, to find out if the muffler is the configuration you need.
Not to be rude, but just about all the questions in the last post could be answered easily by doing just a little research in a Summit or Jegs or similar catalog.
