ECU reset and CEL problem
i have a 1996 f150 with the wee little 302 and i am having some problems,
while driving the CEL comes on and goes off as it pleases... i have nothing done to it except a gobson 3" single and a K&N drop in but the problem was there b4 that
i have no clue whats wrong so i want to check the codes and reset the ecu
now for the next ? how do i reset the ecu, is it just the simple remove the neg terminal or is it more like my old mazda "remove neg terminal, press break for 30sec and then re attach"

Assuming that the first line of your post is "bait" only, I won't bite. To reset the ecu just disconnect the battery for a few minutes and then hook it back up. If you want to learn how to read the output from the ecu then surf over to the fordfuelinjection website and there are excellent instructions on how to pull and interpret the codes.

Typically if the CEL goes on and off randomly, usually that means emissions stuff is "going" but not "dead" yet. EGR and Catalytic converter are two common issues.
Since you have a 96, it should be ODB-II compatible, meaning you can use an ODB-II scanner. Pep boys will even read the codes for you for free.
