rough weekend with a flat.

Hey, first time posting. I actually had a rather rough weekend, I think the black cloud was following me.

My son and I would take our f350, camper, horse trailer, 3 horses and one dog and head for a ranch up in the mountains. Well 2 miles from the ranch my rear tire blew on my truck, it seems a rock didn't really care that they were load rated "E". So, amazed was I to finally realize that the camper is covering the hole that you put the rod through to operate the pulley and let down the tire. So to make a long story short I ended up disconnecting the trailer, lifting the camper off the truck, driving the truck forward enough to allow me to get the spare tire down. Then reversing everything when I finally got the tire changed.

So, my question is this: Is there a different way to operate the pulley and lower the tire or am I going to have to remove my spare everytime I put my camper on?

Thanks for any help. I would really not like to go through that again, especially since it was supposed to be a relaxing time.

Jim

cannot answer your question, but with as much work as you describe I wpersonally would invest in another spare tire and mount it to the camper with easier access. Just my opinion
