Exclamation Identity crisis......

I have just now discovered that I have found an unconnected wire (plug) hanging down right behind the drivers side front wheel well...but screwed into the plastic that is mounted right up above the very front of the running board bracket. It seems to have nothing near it to be connected to and the only other identifiable thing on the connector is a small red plastic part made of plastic on the inner part.

Any clues????

look at the air box. From the front of the truck, directly on the opposite side of the air box there should be a wire/plug that 1/4 turns into the air box, (it does come out on its own once in a while) this is probably what you are seeing. All it does is tell the computer the temp of the incoming/ambient air. also tells the computer what digital numbers to display on the ctr console of the lariat trucks for outside temp.

Just put it back in the hole of the air box on the backside and twist. Now breathe

Well see it is attached directly (as in screwed in with 2 screws) into the plastic down their as if it is supposed to be their.

How about the plug for the wheel sensor for the anti-lock brakes?

your guess is as good as mine now, the only thing on my truck anywhere near what you describe is the vaccum line for my auto hubs.
