Check engine light

I installed a new cat. and dual exhausts on my 1996 F150 300 six. After a month the check engine light came on and I have been told that it is because of the new cat.

Any suggestions for resolving this. Would putting the o2 sensor before the cat. make a differenct.

Go buy a code scanner. For $30 it will tell you what to check. It could be a sensor or something went bad.

First, how many O2 sensors does your truck have and did you eliminate any when you did your exhaust upgrade. With you asking about putting the sensor in front of yhe cat tells me that your truck was originally equipped with two,an upstream & a downstream, but I could be wrong. Also, detail the original exhaust compared to the modified exhaust, such as having primary & secondary cats original & dual cats, dual exhaust now.
