Look for posts, and check out the gallery of "teds74ford". He did a 2x4 to 4x4 conversion, and it looks pretty good. I would mimic the above, but since your truck is a crewcab, and a bit on the rare side, at least do some research before you decide to start hacking (and lots of it). I would personaly consider a conversion for a crew cab, considering how rare and exspensive finding a 4x4 one is

There are many posts on that swap as well, and it would help you keep your sanity 
I think you'll end being 6" over, but a little trimming and moving is much better than. . . well basically hacking the front end off a 4x4 and welding it in place of the 2x4.

Sure, it was fun, but I wouldn't want to do it again anytime in the next... oh, 50 years.
